ScentSicles® and Balsam Hill® to Make Holiday History This November With World’s First Charitable Online Tree Decorating Event
ATLANTA, Nov. 19, 2012 /PRNewswire/ — ScentSicles(®) scented ornaments and Balsam Hill(®) will bring the holiday spirit of giving online with www.TheCommunitree.com, a never-been-done-before, live digital three-day event to benefit Toys for Tots. Launching Monday, November 19 at 12 PM, The Communitree enables users to remotely place donation-generating ornaments, including ScentSicles, onto a rotating Balsam Hill Christmas tree, making this the first-ever worldwide tree decorating party.
Participants across the globe, from their computers, will take turns operating a physical robotic arm to position and hang ornaments on a rotating Christmas tree. For every decoration attempt, $5 will be donated to Toys for Tots, and successfully hung ornaments can be shared on Facebook, where each “Like” garners an additional donation. Anyone can join this community effort to help kids in need, and reach a three-day $20,000 donation goal, by signing up at www.TheCommunitree.com and adding an ornament.
“ScentSicles make any tree smell fresh-cut, bringing authentic fragrance back to Christmas traditions,” said Nick McKay, CEO of EnviroScent. “As a company, we are proud to take this feeling of Christmas to the next level by building a greater sense of community and togetherness online in an effort to help others.”
“For many, holiday traditions are centered around the Christmas tree,” added Thomas Harmon, CEO of Balsam Hill. “Balsam Hill strives to create the best Christmas trees to help families create beautiful holiday memories. With Communitree, we are excited to start a new, innovative tradition that unites our global community in celebration of a season of giving and togetherness.”
The Communitree is free of charge to decorate. The live decorating event and the Toys for Tots donations are made possible by a partnership between ScentSicles scented ornaments and Balsam Hill, two brands that seek to build memories and enhance traditions.
The Communitree was created by Made Movement, the first marketing agency dedicated to a resurgence in American manufacturing, in collaboration with Deeplocal, a Pittsburgh-based design and development studio.
