LaunchAStartup.com aims to simplify the outsourcing process and create a 1-stop shop for entrepreneurs

At first glance, oDesk and Elance look like they´re great places where quality contractors and businesses can meet. Yet there are a lot of horror stories coming from both parties. In many cases, each party is reduced to accepting “good enough” because of business necessity. The current freelance model is ripe for disruption and LaunchAStartup.com aims to simplify the outsourcing process and create a 1-stop shop for entrepreneurs.

LaunchAStartup.com is a freelance marketplace for business services. Instead of freelancers placing job bids, they get to post their skill sets and let businesses come to them. For example, a freelancer can advertise a skill set like “Create a logo for $100,” “Design a website for $300,” “Create a animated demo video for $600,” etc. Alongside postings will be relevant work experience, costs, and time frame for completion.

Founder Jay Soriano mentions, “No longer do businesses have to sift through 30+ copy and pasted cover letters, and freelancers don’t have to spend countless un-billable hours finding work.”

In regards to competitors Soriano continues, “To be perfectly honest, quality contractors can be found on oDesk and Elance, but your job descriptions have to be razor concise. And often times that isn’t the case because the companies who are looking for help, aren’t experts in that area. Then you have to sort through dozens of applications, most of which are copy and pasted, and others could be really good salesman reeling you in with buzzwords.”

Soriano moved to Las Vegas inspired by Vegas’ emerging tech scene and the Downtown Project spearheaded by Zappos CEO Tony Hsieh. As such he also wanted to create a platform that helped entrepreneurs, freelancers, designers, developers, and more, monetize their skills so they can (a) earn more money and continue bootstrapping their startup (b) grow a consulting business and/or (c) help others Launch A Startup.
