Andrew Hawley, from Vintage Rock Posters, announces his search for 1967 Jim Morrison and The Doors Washington Hilton Hotel Concert Posters. The concert was held on Thanksgiving weekend, on November 25, 1967 at the International Ballroom at The Washington Hilton Hotel in Washington, D.C. Tickets were only $4.50 at the door. According to Hawley, “Durwood Settles was the promoter. This would be The Doors only D.C. performance. Morrison spent some of his childhood in Alexandria, Virginia. Jim Morrison was estranged from his parents. His mother attended the show at the Hilton but Morrison refused to visit with her.”

Hawley adds, “The famous psychedelic rock n roll concert poster artist Dail Beeghly created the poster for the Doors concert. This was one of Beeghly’s earliest works. Beeghly´s concert poster masterpieces were for the Jimi Hendrix at Merriweather and Washington D.C. shows and Janis Joplin at the Alexandria Roller Arena poster. Beeghly’s posters feature bright, garish lettering using dayglow ink. The Doors Hilton poster is unique because it was printed on both thin construction like paper and thick cardboard.”
