About the Author

Maurice ( Maury ) Coffee has had a distinguished career and life-long pursuit to improve the quality of health care. He received his bachelor´s degree in Hotel and Institutional Administration from Pennsylvania State University and his master´s degree in hospital administration from Northwestern University. After serving a two-year administrative residency at Lankenau Hospital in Philadelphia, he was Vice President of Shadyside Hospital in Pittsburgh for three years and Director (CEO)of Thomas Jefferson University Hospital in Philadelphia for seven years. After serving twenty years as President of his hospital consulting firm, Healthcare Planning & Development in Princeton, N.J., he served as Vice President of Virtua Health, a four hospital health system in southern New Jersey for 20 years. In all of his endeavors, Maury displays a passion for improving healthcare services and a unique ability to build relationships as he effectively represents the interests of patients, healthcare providers and business organizations with all levels of government.
