Baltimore Startup Knettix Releases Social Game WhoAmI?
WhoAmI? brings classic party game to iPhones.
Baltimore, MD (PRWEB) January 17, 2013
Knettix has released its latest app WhoAmI? for the iOS platform. WhoAmI? is based on a classic party game where players choose secret identities for their opponents and try to deduce their own identity by asking yes or no questions. It’s available for the iPhone and iPad.
Knettix is a newcomer in the burgeoning Baltimore startup scene. Having started out making private apps for the enterprise market, this is the first app Knettix has released targeting the consumer market.
According to founder Kevin Thompson, WhoAmI? is modeled after other popular social games, e.g., “Draw Something”, but with a shift in focus to require more thought and strategy. “We wanted to create a game that uses reasoning and deduction, instead of word knowledge or drawing skills. Having enjoyed this game at many social gatherings, it seemed like a perfect fit for a fun and easy social iPhone game.”
Each player chooses a secret identity for their opponent, and then s/he take turns asking yes or no questions until one of them is able to guess his/her secret identity. Game play is one-on-one, but multiple games can be played simultaneously. Players can connect through Facebook or with their phone number and put their social networks to work to identify worthy opponents.
“After playing the game ourselves, we found that the game is actually more social than other games,” said Thompson. “I love Words with Friends, but knowing your opponent personally doesn’t affect the game at all. The freeform questioning aspect of WhoAmI? allows each game to take on the personality of your opponent. Gameplay is part trivia and part conversational.”
WhoAmI? is currently available in the Apple app store for $0.99.
Knettix (pronounced ki-NET-iks), a member of the burgeoning Baltimore start-up scene, is independent app development company joining the social gaming arena. Company founder, Kevin Thompson is an experienced developer, with a strong background in web development and security.
