Melinda O’Neil Named Partner at Enterprise Search Associates
O´Neil has worked with the Dayton-based recruiting firm, which is a client of Top Echelon Contracting, since 1995 and focuses on the candidate side of the firm´s placements.

Over the past 18 years, Melinda O´Neil has gradually taken over responsibility for the candidate half of the recruitment process at Dayton-based recruiting firm Enterprise Search Associates. Over the past 3 years she has become more involved on the client side as well. Owner Jeffrey Linck has recognized O´Neil for her contributions by naming her as his partner in the firm effective January 1, 2013.
“Working by yourself in this business is hard,” Linck said. “There´s no one to share ideas with or commiserate with when things go bad or to cheer with when things go well. You need someone to share in the pain and glory of working as recruiters.”
He has found that in O’Neil. Before becoming a Technical Recruiter for Enterprise Search Associates, she worked for a systems integrator firm that specialized in developing custom laptops for Fortune 100 companies.
“She started working with me in 1995 doing research,” Linck said. “Mainly, she loves to do cold calls, which I don´t care for, so she was doing 100% cold calls. Then she started working more and more into the business, focusing more on the candidate side. She takes care of it from sourcing to after I´ve had the discussions with the client to helping them through the whole interview process. Over time, she earned the right to receive a larger split of the revenue until it got to the point it was 50/50. So on January 1, we made it official. I think it´s a good marriage because she is really good at working with the candidates, and I´m better at the client side.”
Enterprise Search Associates specializes in the recruitment and placement of Information Technology Professionals in the Dayton and Cincinnati areas in Southwest Ohio. Last year, the firm made placements in a number of areas outside their regional area, including Chicago, Atlanta, North Carolina, and Kansas. O´Neil and Linck plan to build on that and grow the firm´s national presence.
O´Neil would also like to see expansion in the firm´s contract staffing area. The firm has been placing contractors through the back-office services of Top Echelon Contracting since 2008.
“I just think it´s great,” she said the partnership. “I´ve really enjoyed working with Jeff all these years. He´s been a great mentor and friend.”
