On February 1, Colle Farmers Market responds to this year’s 51st annual Wisconsin Crop Management Conference and Trade Show, a two-day event that had over 1,500 attendees.
The event attendees were comprised of various sects of Wisconsin’s “agribusiness manufacturers, wholesalers, distributors and dealers of cropping equipment and products,” according to an article from Wisconsin State Farmer.
The show featured the latest in farming technology and products, including “crop improvement products and equipment ranging from seed to specialty fertilizers to liquid fertilizer storage tanks to $300,000 field sprayers.”
According to the article, “The fact that agriculture is ever-changing and changing at a rapid pace was readily apparent (and emphasized) in the exhibits and 54 seminars offered over the two-and-a-half days.”
The article notes how much technology had been introduced since the inception of the Wisconsin Crop Management Conference and Trade Show. Farmers from 1962, the year the event was first held, would be in awe of the latest farming techniques and products that are now available.
In response to the article, Colle Farmers Market states that more focus on organic farming would be a beneficial addition to the event. While it is certainly important to keep producers and distributors up to date on technology, encouraging organic farming is a great way to boost the industry as well.
The increasing trend of organic food has led many farmers to dedicate their farms to growing organic produce. Not only is it safer for farm workers, but it allows farmers to increase revenue since they can charge more for organic food.
Colle is an E-Commerce enabled farmers market community that is passionate about sustainable consumption and responsible conservation. The Colle movement is dedicated to connecting natural product vendors, organic farmers and all consumers who live an organic and natural lifestyle with the ultimate goal of creating more sustainable farming and consumerism.
