SSORest Agent(TM) for PingFederate®

February 7, 2013

WILMINGTON, Del., Feb. 7, 2013 /PRNewswire-iReach/ — The SSORest Agent(TM) for PingFederate(?) is a solution for solving the integration issues that organizations face that have deployed both Ping Identity PingFederate(?) and a Web Access Management solution such as CA SiteMinder(?) in their infrastructure. The SSORest Agent for PingFederate(?) provides out-of-the-box integration between PingFederate(?) and IDF Connect SSORest(TM) as a PingFederate IDP Adapter, enabling PingFederate to seamlessly participate in a SiteMinder(?) infrastructure without any additional third-party APIs.

The SSORest Agent for PingFederate uses the IDF Connect SSORest(TM) server to broker the integration between PingFederate and SiteMinder. Because SSORest is a pure REST-based interface into SiteMinder, it requires no third party libraries or proprietary SDKs to operate. SSORest simplifies the integration between any application and Web Access Management products such as SiteMinder. The SSORest Agent for PingFederate is a single Java library that deploys directly into PingFederate.

SSORest also provides many other benefits and can be used beyond just the PingFederate to SiteMinder integration. SSORest provides the functionality to enable organizations to leverage a public cloud-based infrastructure by solving the unique SSO and Access Management challenges that public Cloud introduces. Additionally, many new Web applications rely on Web 2.0 technologies such as AJAX and Flex, where the application runs primarily within the user’s browser — and it’s the AJAX engine which is sending web service requests to the server. The responses are intended to be machine-readable and are usually plain-text, XML, or JSON, not HTML for displaying in the browser. This type of application exposes limitations in traditional Web Access Management solutions such as SiteMinder, since they rely on the regular cycle of user requests to redirect users, for example to login pages.

These limitations are overcome by SSORest. SSORest presents SiteMinder session functionality via a simple HTTP-based RESTFul interface, which safely supports AJAX, Adobe Flex, Microsoft Silverlight, and other browser-based rich content engines. SSORest supports plain text, JSON, and XML payloads, and is secure to be safely exposed to the Internet.
