The CableLabs Wi-Fi application software provides cable companies the ability to offer value-added services to their Wi-Fi offering, including:
- Wi-Fi detection to help customers find the best cable Wi-Fi service near their current location
- Mapping of the Wi-Fi locations with the ability to view details on the performance level and quality of the Wi-Fi access point
- Wi-Fi testing services to determine the quality of experience and available bandwidth of the customer´s current Wi-Fi service.
“Today´s consumer expects to have high quality access to data wherever and whenever they want, whether it is to video chat with a coworker or to catch up on the latest episode of American Idol, “ says DP Venkatesh, CEO of mPortal, “Consumers get frustrated when they are on an overcrowded connection. CableLabs has licensed its technology to mPortal in order to enhance and distribute its Wi-Fi solution to CableLabs members.
“Our Wi-Fi application technology has one simple goal: improve the quality of experience subscribers have on Wi-Fi networks operated by cable operators.
