ARLINGTON, Va., March 13, 2013 /PRNewswire/ — Excella Consulting, a technology and business consulting firm in the Washington, D.C. area specializing in Agile training and services, announced that Principal Consultant Richard Cheng has received the Certified Scrum Trainer (CST) designation from the Scrum Alliance (http://scrumalliance.org/). The CST designation is among the highest professional designations available to Agile and Scrum practitioners. The certification process requires candidates to submit a peer-reviewed application that includes trainee feedback, curriculum materials, and endorsements from at least five other Certified Trainers. The CST candidate must pass an in-person interview and training simulation. Excella’s clients interested in implementing Agile or participating in Agile and Scrum training will benefit from a more customized approach to training provided by Cheng.

“The CST designation is a formal, industry-recognized endorsement of Richard’s expertise and Excella’s Agile capabilities,” said Jeff Gallimore, one of Excella’s founding partners. “We can now tailor certified Scrum training to meet the unique needs of our clients so the course material and format is more relevant, useful and impactful.”

Cheng leads Excella’s Agile Center of Excellence and has implemented Agile solutions in the federal, commercial, financial and non-profit space. A graduate of Virginia Tech, he has authored several publications on project management and presented at multiple Agile and PMI-sponsored industry events. In addition to the CST, Cheng’s certifications include Certified Scrum Professional (CSP) and Project Management Institute Agile Certified Practitioner (PMI-ACP).
