Biscom Awarded FIPS 140-2 Certification
Biscom Cryptography Module 1.0 Certified by NIST
CHELMSFORD, Mass., March 14, 2013 /PRNewswire/ — Biscom, Inc., the leading provider of enterprise secure file transfer and secure fax solutions, today announced that it has completed the rigorous FIPS 140-2 testing and has received certification from the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST). FIPS 140-2 is a US government security standard that accredits cryptographic modules. Working in conjunction with the Communications Security Establishment (CSE), the FIPS 140-2 validation program is also recognized in Canada. FIPS 140-2 certification is part of the Biscom Secure File Transfer solution that enterprises use to share confidential and sensitive files and documents.
“It was a long road, but going through the certification process has helped us reach the next level in security for Biscom’s products,” according to Sharif Rahman, vice president of engineering and chief architect at Biscom. “This certification helped us review and update our security frameworks and policies.”
While the US government requires applications that use cryptography to be FIPS 140-2 certified, many other industries such as healthcare, financial services, and legal also consider FIPS 140-2 certification a requirement before they deploy an application that uses encryption.
Biscom provides enterprise secure document delivery and collaboration through Web, fax, and mobile interfaces. Biscom’s award-winning fax and secure and managed file transfer solutions are trusted by the largest organizations in the world. Biscom is also the #1 production computer fax vendor in North America.
