On March 21, Yumi Media, a food website devoted to delivering the latest and greatest in food news, recipes, and products to incorporate into your own healthy lifestyle, encourages non-vegetarians to view the vegetarian documentary “Vegucated.”
According to The Observer of Dunkirk NY, the Chautauqua Vegetarian-Vegan Society will watch the educational DVD “Vegucated.”
The Observer reports that “Vegucated,” an award-winning documentary, “follows three meat- and cheese-loving New Yorkers who agree to eat a vegan diet for six weeks. They start to experience weight loss and improvements in health, such as better blood pressure. [The three New Yorkers then] learn of the horrors of factory farms.”
According to The Observer, those attending the viewing are invited to bring a nutritious vegan (and organic, if possible) dish to share as well as the recipe.
“This documentary is amazing representation of the struggle most vegetarians go through when first transitioning towards this particular lifestyle,” comments Yumi Media spokesperson Justin Maas. “’Vegucated’ is a look into the benefits of changing lifestyles for healthier living.”
Maas adds that in light of the horsemeat controversy, Quorn complaints that sway non-vegetarians from becoming vegetarian might diminish. “I think the age of the vegetarian is upon us and hope to see a little Quorn in the documentary. Their food helped me to ditch meat painlessly when I had been hesitant to take the plunge into full-on vegetarianism.”
