Electronic Arts and Insomniac Games last week announced a brand new video game franchise set to release in the US on May 28 and Europe on May 31.
EA and Insomniac have also announced incentives for pre-ordering this title before it´s release, giving early adopters extra in-game armor, strength and weapons.
In a press statement, Founder and CEO of Insomniac Games Ted Price shared his enthusiasm for the release, saying: "Insomniac Games is known for delivering best-in-class weaponry that breaks the mold of traditional video games – and Fuse is no different.”
"These Xenotech weapons further the innovation players will find in this unique, action co-op shooter. We can't wait to bring Fuse, our first multi-platform game, to gamers worldwide this May,” said Price.
These “Xenotech weapons” are powered by a “volatile alien substance” and are all part of the game´s story line, which follows four “elite, covert agents.”
Dalton Brooks, Izzy Sinclair, Jacob Kimble and Naya Deveraux each bring their own specific skill sets and Xenotech weapons as they fight against a source of alien energy known as “Fuse.”
Gamers who pre-order the title will be awarded with elite extras, including four Hyperion Prototype Agent Armor Skins, four Hyperion Prototype Weapon Skins, and a Quickdraw Team Perk.
The Hyperion Armor Skins are upgrades to the characters existing armor and are said to have been discovered “inside the top-secret Hyperion Base.”
The Hyperion Prototype Weapon Skins appear to be new upgraded designs to the characters´ existing weapons. These prototypes have also been discovered in the fictional Hyperion Base.
Finally, gamers who pre-order Fuse will begin the game with an edge, thanks to the Quickdraw Team Perk. This perk increases the damage of any characters´ one-handed weapons.
These upgrades aren´t exclusive to pre-order customers, however. Gamers can upgrade their armor and arsenal as they complete different levels and tasks in the game.
As a four-person cooperative shooter, teams of four can play themselves through the story line of these four defenders of mankind. Though Fuse is a multiplayer title, gamers can play in single-player mode. Solo gamers are also able to play as any of the four characters and experience their special set of skills throughout the game. Insomniac is touting the game´s “LEAP” feature, which allows gamers to switch characters mid-game to help them compete.
Gamers can play Fuse on or offline, though online play requires an Internet connection and an Origin account.
