Small Business Answering Service App Released by Main Virtual Office

April 3, 2013

Small business answering service apps are replacing voice mail as the small business ecosystem becomes more competitive.

Portland, ME (PRWEB) April 03, 2013

Fewer people want to listen to voice mail greetings and prompts, deal with repeated password and PIN entries and leave voice messages, when they are making calls on their mobile phones. This is especially true of teenagers, the next generation of tech users. It is so much easier and faster to just send a text message. According to JWT, the world´s best known marketing brand, voice mail on a smartphone or a feature phone will go the way of the answering machine in 2013. However, text messaging cannot replace voice mail for small business phone answering. What has emerged are new small business phone answering mobile apps.

Jim Plunkett of Main Virtual Office, says small businesses and especially solopreneurs are leading the exodus from voice mail, as they cannot afford to lose customers that hang up, when they are sent to voice mail. They are using new hybrid small business answering service mobile apps that afford them both mobile functionality for their telephone messages and a live answer when someone calls…the best of both worlds.

It’s taken a while, almost twenty years, for most of us to realize the imposition of repeated voice mail prompts are not only an inconvenience, but in small business’s case, a potential liability, imposed on us by the mobile carriers that wanted to increase their minutes. As mobile carriers transition to unlimited minutes, this revenue source is now gone and so is the incentive for carriers to improve and or continue to promote voice mail.

What has emerged he says, is a plethora of text messaging apps for the younger generation and for small businesses, several hybrid small business answering service mobile apps combining “old school” phone answering services with new cloud based VOIP and mobile technology. Virtual answering services are not new says Plunkett, however, some of the functionality is.

Main Virtual Office intends to release their small business answering service app this month, after extensive testing with a group of customers. Probably, the biggest advantage of the app says Plunkett, is that customers can login and update their virtual receptionist as to their availability to receive a call in real time. Our virtual receptionists then immediately see this when a call comes in and can advise the caller, as if they were sitting in the customers office when they are answering their phone. Plunkett says he expects to see 2013 as the year small business answering service apps become the universal replacement for small business voice mail.
