InfoTrends has announced that it is expanding its capabilities in the areas of functional and industrial printing. Leading this initiative is Ron Gilboa, who joined the company this week as Director of Functional and Industrial Printing after serving for nearly a decade in executive marketing roles for Eastman Kodak´s Commercial Imaging Group.

“To a large extent, the first twenty-five years of digital printing have been driven by document printing. Digital printing of documents will continue to grow, but some of the highest growth areas over the next twenty-five years will come from digital printing of functional and industrial applications, including packaging,” said Jim Hamilton, Group Director for InfoTrends´ Production group.

He continued, “We are very excited to have an industry veteran like Ron Gilboa to lead this initiative. He will help us expand our Color Digital Label & Packaging service where new innovation in digital solutions enable converters and packaging manufacturers to provide new solutions that meet their customers´ needs for quality, productivity, and time to market. Additionally the success of InfoTrends digital textile printing study has demonstrated the high level of client interest in areas outside of typical graphic communications applications. Unusual substrates such as textiles, ceramics, wood, glass, and metal are being printed more and more frequently using digital methods. At the same time, innovations in material deposition are driving applications such as 3D printing, printed circuit boards, and pharmaceuticals.”

Together with InfoTrends Associate Director Bob Leahey, under whose guidance InfoTrends launched its Color Digital Label & Packaging service, Ron will be conducting graphic communications market research, market forecasting, custom consulting projects, strategy and planning engagements and creating editorial content for product and market analysis reports.

Gilboa rejoins InfoTrends from Eastman Kodak Company, where he served as Vice President of Marketing at Kodak´s Inkjet Printing Solutions group, Director of Worldwide Current Marketing & Operation, and Director of Worldwide Communications. In these positions Gilboa managed a cross functional team responsible for overall go-to-market including strategy development, marketing operations and in-market execution across the individual regional strategic product groups. Prior to Kodak, Ron held senior positions as Director of the Print On Demand & Publishing Service at InfoTrends (formerly CAP Ventures) and Product Management at Scitex Corporation.

“I´m delighted to be back at InfoTrends and working with a remarkable team of colleagues. I look forward to applying my skills and experience in graphics communications, to charting the next twenty five years of innovation, in the Functional and Industrial Printing marketplace,” commented Gilboa.
