Quorn suggests cooking easy vegetarian meals to reduce amount of water used to cook meat.

Bohemia, NY (PRWEB) April 04, 2013

On April 4, Quorn responds to an article published by the Times of Trenton, which details how New Jersey residents can save water by switching to a more sustainable diet.

According to the article published by Danielle Nierenberg of the Times of Trenton, the U.S. is one of the world´s biggest water users. The average person in American uses more water than about 900 Kenyans, the article says. Due to the U.S.´s overuse of water, natural resources are depleting. The article says there have been severe droughts in the last five years and 36 states are expecting to have difficulties providing water this year.

Quorn representative David Wilson says reducing water use is a good way to save the environment and eating less meat could help. “We already know that the food supply is dwindling, especially with meat,” he says. “Switching to a diet rich in fruits and vegetables could help reduce the potential for a massive food shortage while conserving water.”

3,000 to 5,000 gallons of water is saved for every pound of beef not eaten, reports Earthsave.

“On factory farms, cattle drink a lot of water when they are grazing. If we don´t eat meat, we won´t need the meat produced from cattle, which in turn will save the water previously used to feed them,” says Wilson

Wilson recommends limiting the consumption of meat or cutting it out altogether, suggesting easy vegetarian meals could help keep dieters on a sustainable track. “Quorn makes tasty all natural meals without meat,” he says. “If you´re a person that loves meat, you´ll get a similar, if not better, taste and consistency, without the negative effects of eating meat. Reducing your meat intake will help save water, improve your diet and keep you healthy. I recommend supplementing some of your weekly meat intake with our easy vegetarian meals.”

Looking for a healthy alternative to meat? Unlike other meatless food companies, Quorn uses mycoprotein: a healthy, naturally occurring alternative protein source that replicates the taste and texture of meat, while being significantly lower in saturated fats and calories. Quorn Foods offer a wide range of products, including ready-to-serve meals, snacks, and food for your barbecue — as well as ingredients to make your own nutritious, meat-free dishes from scratch. The wonderful taste of Quorn’s meatless meals lets you experience the foods you love without sacrificing nutrition.
