Lloydshare Scam Prevention Team Recommends Individuals To Increase Vigilance Against Caller ID Scam Artists
Lloydshare and their scam prevention team are urging people to be on the lookout for scam artists exploiting caller ID systems, as infamous “ID Spoofing” becomes trending among con artists.
Lloydshare strongly opposes such harassment, and is issuing advice as to how individuals affected by these scam artists, can combat them, and keep their personal information secure.
For one, Lloydshare recommends that people never provide personal information during unsolicited phone calls. If a person from an alleged agency randomly calls, and begins demanding personal information out of the blue, it is wise to hang up and look up the company’s telephone number from a phone book, or online, and manually dial that number into the phone. Simply auto-redialing may just call the potential scammer back. If the company confirms again, that they need the information, then all is well. But, if the company has no record of needing information, then the person who originally called was a scammer.
It does not take much technological know-how to operate a caller ID spoof application, either. There are even some available for downloading in smartphone app marketplaces. These apps are claimed to be simply for innocent prank calling…but the criminals are taking advantage of these applications, and exploiting information out of unaware individuals. Lloydshare scam prevention team recommends that personal information should only be given out over the phone when it is absolutely certain the person on the other end is exactly who they say they are.
