Alarm.com and Lutron Electronics Team Up to Deliver Integrated Home Management Controls
Integrating Lutron lighting, shade and temperature controls with the Alarm.com Platform enables connected home control from a single application
Vienna, VA (PRWEB) April 10, 2013
Alarm.com today announced its collaboration with Lutron Electronics to integrate Lutron´s RadioRA® 2 and HomeWorks® QS total home control systems into the Alarm.com connected home platform. As a result of this collaboration, homeowners will be able to control their lights, shades, thermostats and small appliances, plus interactive home security, energy management and home automation services from a single, integrated service.
Lutron is the leader in the lighting control industry and offers a wide selection of energy saving dimmers, automated shades and draperies and total home control systems. The integration of Lutron´s best-in-class devices with Alarm.com´s superior connected home platform leads to a more complete and convenient home automation solution to help homeowners better manage their home and save energy.
“Alarm.com is focused on enabling the best experience for our users. We have developed an industry leading connected home platform and continue to add features and capabilities to connect all the mission critical systems in the home,” said Jay Kenny, vice president of marketing, Alarm.com. “Teaming up with market-leading companies like Lutron is part of our broader effort to leverage our platform to connect the best of breed devices customers have in their homes to make them more useful and integrated. We believe that a single, connected experience is better and lets homeowners add more and more functionality over time to their existing systems.”
Alarm.com services are available exclusively through the Alarm.com dealer network, and provide full integration with Lutron’s RadioRA 2 and HomeWorks QS systems. By connecting Lutron controls to the Alarm.com Platform, customers experience several key benefits:
Create custom rules to trigger lighting and shade control based on security system and sensor settings — Lutron customers can now leverage Alarm.com´s connected home platform to automatically trigger lights, shades and thermostats to adjust based on security system settings or sensor activity. For example, when the security system is armed as the homeowner leaves in the morning, interior lights could be triggered to turn off, temperature to be rolled back two degrees and the shades to raise or lower based on customer settings.
A single mobile app for a connected experience — Homeowners can have full control and management of lighting and shades integrated with their interactive security, video monitoring and home automation system in a single, easy to use mobile app. This offers the ability to access and adjust lights, shades and temperature for individual devices as well as groups of lights from the Alarm.com mobile app.
Use schedules to create a more efficient energy management solution — Lutron lighting, shade and temperature controls can now be added to automation schedules that can be set by day of week, time of day and by device, allowing the homeowner to create a truly personalized solution.
“Homeowners have seen and read about home automation and know it´s possible to control several devices in their homes,” said Rich Black, director, residential product management and business development at Lutron. “Adding a Lutron control system to the Alarm.com connected home platform is a win for homeowners– now they can get even more out of their home by combining light, shade and temperature controls with a comprehensive, connected home platform in a single, easy to use app that adds energy, security and convenience benefits that they will enjoy every day.”
