Sustainable IT solutions provider TurnKey Internet announced today that its data center has reached the elite status of a zero carbon footprint.
Latham, NY (PRWEB) April 15, 2013
This is the next installment in TurnKey Internet’s month-long Earth Day campaign, which focuses on raising public awareness of the green IT practices that it has implemented, and the importance of utilizing these sustainable alternatives.
With the addition of its new, comprehensive hydroelectric power service for its SSAE 16 Type II certified data center in Latham, NY, TurnKey Internet is now completely run on renewable power resources. This plan draws from clean, environmentally-friendly hydropower generated from Niagara Falls. It will extend the data center´s existing renewable energy consumption to a full 100% of its total power use.
The installation is part of the state-wide ReCharge New York power program. This system was awarded by the NYS Governor´s Office as a portion of a 910-megawatt allowance to select companies in New York State that qualified for a power allocation. It was approved for TurnKey Internet in recognition of its continual expansion and the job opportunities that it creates within New York. The program integrates directly into TurnKey Internet´s existing power distribution infrastructure and aids in eliminating its carbon footprint.
“TurnKey Internet is excited to have reached a zero carbon footprint status, as a result of the new hydroelectric power addition,” said Adam Wills, president and CEO. “This status puts us leaps and bounds beyond the industry standard. There are few data centers that have even reached the carbon neutral mark, and only select facilities have achieved a zero carbon footprint. This is yet another green milestone for TurnKey Internet. It reinforces our commitment to clean, environmental practices, while allowing us to remain a step ahead–both as a business and as environmental advocates.”
Through leveraging a multi-faceted approach to eradicating its carbon footprint, TurnKey Internet has become a front-runner of green IT solutions. From energy-efficient cooling systems, to advanced solar arrays, and now hydroelectric power, TurnKey Internet´s facility is 100% renewable. This is one giant leap forward in its industry-leading, ecological approaches to business IT.
