The Hanley Center 2013 Golf Classic once again raised money for the Caron and Hanley Treatment Centers, a nonprofit addiction-treatment facility that has pioneered gender- and age-specific recovery methods in South Florida.

The Hanley Center 2013 Golf Classic took place at The Medalist, a golf course designed by Greg Norman that also serves as Tiger Woods´ home course. The 18-holer was followed by a festive luncheon, an awards ceremony and an exclusive silent auction. All proceeds benefit the Caron and Hanley Treatment Centers Lifesaver Scholarship Fund, which aid those unable to afford treatment.

Dr. Rachel Docekal, CEO of the Hanley Center Foundation, said supporting the Lifesaver Scholarship Fund is important because an approximate 40 percent of the organization´s patients receive financial assistance in some form.

Hanley Center 2013 Golf Classic chairs included Michael Gauger, Gary Harris, Jason Schweriner and Jean Wihbey, a PGA National resident. It was held in honor of radio magnate Dick Robinson, a longtime supporter of the organization.

Andrew Rothermel, a president at the Hanley and Caron Treatment Centers, said the organization is “thrilled” to have secured The Medalist for the second consecutive year, as a limited number of golf tournaments take place there because of the exclusivity of the community of Hobe Sound homes for sale. Tournament fees were $1,000 per golfer. Sponsors included Braman Motorcars, PNC Wealth Management and SeaView Radio.

The Caron and Hanley Treatment Centers operate out of three Palm Beach County locations — Hanley Center, Caron Ocean Drive and Caron Renaissance — and Vero Beach´s Gate Lodge. It serves as a national model for helping those with substance-abuse problems regain control of their lives. For information, call 561-841-1048.

Waterfront Properties and Club Communities specializes in homes for sale at The Medalist and in other Martin County neighborhoods. It also sells luxury property in Palm Beach County. For information, call 561-746-7272.
