Salient Federal Solutions Awarded Contract by OPM for Database Administration Support Services for the Federal Investigative Service (FIS) Systems
US Office of Personnel Management Selects Salient to Provide Improved Database Performance for the Federal Investigation Process to Achieve Successful Background Investigations Goals
FAIRFAX, Va., April 25, 2013 /PRNewswire/ — Salient Federal Solutions, Inc. (Salient), a leading provider of information technology, engineering, and intelligence analytic services to agencies in the intelligence, defense, homeland security, cyber security, and federal civilian markets, today announced the award of a prime contract for the US Office of Personnel Management (OPM)’s Application Systems (AS) Division. This is a one-year award made under the OPM Blanket Purchase Agreement (BPA).
This work will be performed under OPM’s Office of the Chief Information Officer (OCIO), Application Services (AS) division. The AS division is responsible for providing full lifecycle application development and database administration support for both mainframe and distributed system environments that support OPM’s Federal Investigative Services (FIS). The FIS is responsible for performing personnel security clearance background investigations for federal employees and contractors. Under the Intelligence Reform and Terrorism Prevention Act (IRTPA) of 2004, OPM is responsible completing 90 percent of background investigations within 40 days.
Under this contract, Salient will provide the necessary support, enhancements, on-going maintenance, design, and database tuning for a highly complex and visible system that supports the government’s personnel security clearance background investigations. Critical to the success of the database administration task, is the ability to anticipate, design, develop, deploy, secure, and support databases and critical applications across the enterprise to ensure that OPM continues to meet IRTPA timeliness goals securely and efficiently.
