AT&T on Monday announced its U.S. wireless customers soon can search and download tunes from a 5 million-plus music library over the air from Napster Mobile.

Under terms of the contract, AT&T wireless customers will have the ability to preview samples, purchase and download music from their wireless handsets in less than a minute, AT&T said in a news release. The price-tiered service begins in November.

We are pleased to expand our relationship with Napster, an innovator in the digital music revolution, to connect our customers to more of the music they want in the moment that they want it, Mark Collins, vice president of Consumer Data for AT&T’s wireless unit, said in a news release. This relationship reinforces AT&T’s leadership in providing the industry’s largest mobile music platform.

AT&T, with headquarters in San Antonio, said it would kick off the Napster Mobile music download service by featuring music content from Matchbox Twenty and the band’s new album Exile on Mainstream.
