Jacksonville, Florida (PRWEB) May 14, 2013

Ronald R. Loeppke, MD, MPH, FACOEM, FACPM has been elected president of the American College of Occupational and Environmental Medicine (ACOEM). Dr. Loeppke is president and vice chairman of U.S. Preventive Medicine, Inc., (USPM) headquartered in Jacksonville, Florida.

Dr. Loeppke is a Fellow of ACOEM and is board certified by the American Board of Preventive Medicine. He is a Diplomat of the National Board of Medical Examiners and is a nationally recognized leader in the field of occupational and environmental (OEM) medicine, preventive medicine, population health management, employee wellness, and health and productivity management.

U.S. Preventive Medicine has created an innovative information technology solution for a personalized prevention program. USPM´s The Prevention Plan is based on the clinical practice of preventive medicine with engagement in primary, secondary and tertiary prevention. Users complete a health risk appraisal, receive virtual coaching, live coaching and social challenges to reduce their risks, participating at self-determined levels of engagement.

“The current sick care model in the United States is not designed to meet the real health and wellness needs of people,” stated Dr. Loeppke. “Employers have a unique opportunity to play a key role in helping workers improve their health through workplace wellness programs. In fact, the health of the workforce is inextricably linked to the productivity of the workforce. There is a significant business value to workers´ better health and well-being.”

“Workplace health and wellness initiatives now reach millions of workers. Prevention, wellness, health and safety programs designed by occupational health professionals can impact employees every day throughout the year. This can be far more significant than the minutes employees may spend in a primary care physician´s office each year.”

“Occupational health providers are a critical medical resource for the nation´s workers and their dependents,” Dr. Loeppke concluded. “By embracing a comprehensive prevention, wellness and safety strategy, employers can build a culture that empowers a healthier, more engaged and resilient workforce–which yields improved performance. The bottom line is that good health is good business.”

Dr. Loeppke´s research, studies and articles on workplace health and wellness have been published extensively in scientific journals and other publications and he is a frequent speaker nationally on these topics. He is a resident of Brentwood, Tennessee.
