ConXtech’s Structural Steel Fabrication Facility Earns Canadian Welding Bureau Certification
Certification enables company to meet demand for modular and more sustainable structures for energy and natural resource projects and other structural applications in Canada.
Hayward, CA (PRWEB) May 15, 2013
On May 8th, ConXtech´s manufacturing team was certified by the Canadian Welding Bureau (CWB). The CWB is chartered with ensuring consistent quality for welded structures built in, or for, the Canadian market. This marks a significant milestone qualifying ConXtech to meet increasing demand for its ConX® Chassis Based Modular Pipe Rack System in northern Canada, where some of the largest energy producers in the world are building major facilities.
To achieve CWB Certification, a company must undergo an in-depth review and qualification process as well as rigorous testing to ensure that their team possesses the skills and knowledge specified by the Canadian Standards Association (CSA). “Our entire team achieved certification to the CSA W47.1 Standard at a 100% pass rate. This is a testament to the skill and knowledge of our team, as well as the processes we have in place to assure quality,” says John Rettie, ConXtech´s Director of Manufacturing.
ConXtech manufactures its innovative steel connections and pre-fabricates ConX structural assemblies in a high-tech factory environment. “Remote projects are challenging, and the skilled labor to build in these environments is becoming increasingly scarce. CWB certification allows us to do a vast majority of the work in a factory environment and ship ConX components to northern Canada where smaller crews can safely and efficiently assemble those components into larger modules or more rapidly erect stick-built structures on-site,” states Robert J. Simmons, ConXtech´s CEO and CTO. “Our systemic approach to structures brings predictability from the budgeting process forward and plays a valuable role by reducing overall project risk.”
ConXtech´s standardized Lower and Locking® connection technology takes much of the complexity out of the design, fabrication and field work and eliminates field welding on the structure. In the ConX factory, innovative fixturing positions steel assemblies to be factory welded horizontally in an ergonomically safe position, and unprecedented quality is achieved. Enhanced safety, higher weld deposition rates, increased productivity, and significantly reduced waste and re-work are the result.
ConXtech is a privately-held construction technology company based in Hayward, CA. Since 2004, the company offers ConX®, a modular, prefabricated and mass-customizable structural steel building system, which enables rapid delivery of robust, cost efficient and sustainable structures. The ConX System reduces time and overall project costs when compared to conventional structures and brings a systemic change to the building process, enabling owners and developers to predictably build Faster, Better, Safer and Greener.
