San Francisco, US / Helsinki, Finland (PRWEB) May 17, 2013

Moves app was presented in Google I/O 2013 developer conference as one of the pioneers in software-based activity tracking. The upcoming free Moves Android app builds on the proprietary Moves activity recognition technology and the latest Android and Google Play Services APIs to bring the industry-leading iPhone app–with over 1.6 million downloads since January–to the Android platform.

“I am thrilled to see Moves featured as a pioneer in the activity tracking space. It confirms our vision. The mobile phone is becoming the most important activity tracking device and will be at the center of modern health and wellness. People are used to carry their phones with them, and there is no match for the price and ease-of-use of tracking your activities using an app,” says Sampo Karjalainen, Designer CEO of Moves. “We are happy to see that the basic activity recognition is becoming a key part of the platform. The new APIs help Moves to minimize the battery use, and focus on higher-level analysis and insights that bring even more value to the users.”

Moves will be available on Android phones this summer. You can sign up for a notification on Moves for Android preview page: http://moves-app.com/androidpreview.

About Moves

Moves is the new way to understand how much physical exercise you get–just by keeping your phone in a pocket or bag. The app automatically recognizes activities (walking, running, cycling, transportation), routes and places. Moves delivers the same value as activity tracking gadgets, with no need to buy and carry yet another device. Moves has been available for iPhone since January 24, 2013 and has been downloaded over 1.6 million times.

Moves is developed and run by a company called ProtoGeo. We are a team of nine people distributed between Helsinki (FI), London (UK) and Pittsburgh (US). We are passionate about showing people how much they move, and show how small changes in everyday habits can make a big impact to your fitness and well-being.
