Gladinet has announced the release of an updated Mac client for Gladinet Cloud storage after a successful beta program. The updated Mac client now offers the same advanced features as the Windows client, which allow existing folders to be attached to cloud storage. Other cloud storage clients create a single synchronization folder and force users to disrupt their existing file system by moving file and folders into the synchronization folder. Gladinet’s Mac client allows the existing file system to remain undisturbed. Instead, users can “attach” these folders to their cloud storage and they will be synchronized with the cloud.
Gladinet’s Mac client also offers on-demand synchronization. Mac users can view their cloud storage through a mapped drive. When a folder in this drive is opened, the client will initially display the directory listing with applicable icons. However, the contents of a listed file will not be downloaded until it is opened by a user. This is particularly useful in remote access scenarios where a user may not have the time to wait for the completion of a full synchronization before they can update a single document.
Gladinet allows enterprises and service providers to deploy a dropbox alternative with all the collaboration features users need, while maintaining complete control of the cloud storage and access infrastructure. With the official release of the Mac client, the company offers coverage for the primary cloud storage use cases for the most common end users devices based on Windows, Mac, iOS, Android or Blackberry platforms.
Gladinet’s CEO, Jerry Huang, stated “With the release of this client, we are pleased to meet the needs of our partners who have been waiting for a robust, feature rich access model for the Mac platforms.”
The latest Mac client is available to users with Gladinet accounts. It is also available to customers of service providers who have used Gladinet Cloud Enterprise to deploy their own private dropbox solution.
