On May 24, 2013, Long Island screen printing company East End Screen Printing issues a response to a Yuma News Now article describing a T.J.Maxx study that relates self-expression to fashion.

According to the Yuma News Now article, a new study conducted by T.J.Maxx and researchers from Parsons the New School for Design, found that fashion is extremely important when it comes to self-expression, especially for women. More than 77 percent of women polled said that fashion helps them express their personality and they want more options to express themselves.

In the article, Fashion Stylist Leslie Fremar says, “Fashion can speak volumes, which is why I spend time getting to know my clients, so that I can select pieces that truly reflect their individuality and give them that added confidence on the red carpet.”

The study also reveals that 87 percent of women say they are not controlled by fashion or confined by trends or style profiles. The article says more than half of these women say they interpret trends to make their own style.

Bruce Graham, owner of Long Island screen printing company, East End Screen Printing, says clothing has the potential to make lasting impressions. “Everyone has a personal style and that´s why we´ve seen the customizable clothing business grow in the last decade,” Graham says. “While style trends do influence what people wear, they are not nearly as influential as they were many years ago. People are creating their own styles.”

Customizable t-shirts, Graham says, are just another way to proudly don your message. “We have a lot of customers design their own t-shirts to represent their opinions, their hobbies, and their views,” he says. “The beauty of the business is that people get to wear something they personally created and others can see it. Customizable shirts are almost like an extension of someone´s personality and it´s great that people can express themselves through clothing without feeling pressure from society to wear something ℠fashionable.´”
