David Beckham was able to make the purchase at such a low price because when he was playing for the Los Angeles Galaxy, as part of his deal, he was given the right to buy an MLS expansion team for $25 million. In 2012, according to Forbes Magazine, the value of MLS soccer teams is increasing. During a recent deal involving D.C. United Soccer team, the team was valued at a record $50 million dollars.
The Employee Benefit Research Institute, in March of 2013, released their survey showing that 30% of American households have less that $25,000 in savings.
