Global Information Assurance Certification Announces a New Mobile Device Security Certification
Certification Ensures Security Professionals Have the Knowledge and Skills Necessary to Mitigate Mobile Security Risks
BETHESDA, Md., May 28, 2013 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ – Global Information Assurance Certification (GIAC) announces a new certification for mobile device security, the GIAC Mobile Device Security Analyst (GMOB). The new credential addresses the security concerns of mobile devices such as smart phones and tablets on enterprise and government systems.
Access to sensitive data and inconsistent security make mobile devices enticing targets for attackers. Security threats to mobile devices can be a challenge for organizations of every size. Whether a device is provided by an employer or for personal use, data leakage, malware, theft, and mobile device attacks are a problem. Those charged with securing mobile devices and data must understand the vulnerabilities and threats, platforms, encryption, and the security tools offered by the major vendors. The GIAC Mobile Device Security Analyst (GMOB) certification ensures that your security professionals know, and can mitigate, the risks to your environment presented by mobile devices.
The new GMOB certification indicates that an information security professional understands mobile device penetration testing and the ability to perform a security analysis of mobile applications. In addition, this person can apply security policies, including Bring Your Own Device “BYOD” policies, in a mobile environment. The GMOB also covers mobile device architecture, operating systems, security features, and mitigation against common vulnerabilities and security threats. The GMOB certification assures candidates are aware of common methods used to attack mobile devices, including jailbreaking, rooting, sidejacking, and web application attacks, and techniques to protect mobile devices, including configuration management and encryption.
GIAC is offering an early registration option for the GMOB. The certification attempt will be available October 1, 2013. To learn more, or to register, please visit: http://www.giac.org/info/130847
