How Water Used in Thermoelectricity Fuels the U.S. Economy

A new series released by Sureaqua, water filtration company, looks into what industries are the biggest users of water, and how important these industries are in the bigger picture of the U.S. economy.

The total water usage by the United States of America is 410,000 million gallons per day. Thermoelectric Power alone accounts for 49 percent of all water withdrawals, using a total of 201,000 million gallons per day.

A new series of articles launched by Sureaqua, personal water filter company, is aiming to identify just how much of a role water plays in the U.S. economy. An introduction to the series titled, Water and the Economy: How Water Fuels Your World was released last week, with part two of the series, Water and the ‘Economy: Thermoelectric Power’ was released yesterday.

“In a world that is running in to more and more water issues, we wanted to take a moment to acknowledge how much of a role this vital, natural resource plays in the operation of our economy. We wanted to create a series of articles that presents the top five water users in America, showing just how much water they use and how that translates back into the well being of the nation,” commented Robert Domanko, Founder and Director of Sureaqua.

This week, the Thermoelectric Power industry was the first to be analyzed. This is an industry, which, according to ‘Water and the Economy: Thermoelectric Power’, forms part of the Electric Power industry; an industry that generated $204511,714 million in 2011.
