Eagle Creek Software Services Soars with 28 Percent Increase in Customer Base
Gartner Report Sees a “Pendulum Swing” to Onshore IT Strategies
EDEN PRAIRIE, Minn., June 12, 2013 /PRNewswire/ — Eagle Creek Software Services, the leader in onshore information technology services, has experienced a 28 percent growth in its customer base this year. The company has invested in technology centers in rural communities and corporate America is seeing the benefits of a consistent, sustainable and scalable workforce. Gartner Inc., the world’s leading information technology research and advisory company, believes the ability to provide a sustainable and scalable workforce will (amongst other things) lead to a renewed emphasis on onshore IT work.
“Gartner identifies changing conditions that have led to a pendulum swing from offshore-centric thinking to more considerations of onshore delivery options in the U.S. market–in essence, a more balanced and holistic view of global delivery,” according to a May 2013 Gartner report.**
Eagle Creek’s Dakota Model does just that. With a strong emphasis on public/private partnerships, the Dakota Model will create 1,000 jobs in technology centers around the state of South Dakota over the next 3-5 years. The company is currently building a $10 million technology center in Vermillion, S.D., which is also the home of the University of South Dakota (USD). Many of the positions at the Vermillion technology center will be staffed by students graduating from the IT Consultant Academy at the university. This certificate program is a direct result of a partnership between Eagle Creek, USD and the South Dakota Board of Regents.
“Eagle Creek Software Services’ growth is positioned around public/private partnerships in the Dakotas,” said Ken Behrendt, president of Eagle Creek Software Services. “With a business friendly state, like South Dakota, and an energized university system, Eagle Creek is positioned to thrive by bringing corporate America what they so desperately need–a scalable and reliable workforce.”
According to the Gartner report, partnerships with universities and local government agencies will be a key for success for onshore companies as “buyers are looking for business impact–not just low-cost options.”**
The IT Consultant Academy at USD will take its first full class this fall and the new technology center in Vermillion will be open in 2014. Individuals interested in applying for the IT Consultant Academy can do so at: www.usd.edu/cde/it.cfm
