Andy Jacob gives top three things that Samsung needs to do right now to improve its earnings.

New York, NY (PRWEB) July 05, 2013

Andy Jacob says, "Samsung’s Smart Phone is too big, and the Consumer has voted with their pocket book." Jacob is one of America’s leading business consultants, and CEO of Jacob Consulting Group.

Junhah Lee, of Bloomberg reports that, Samsung Electronics Co. (005930), the world’s biggest Smartphone maker, posted second-quarter earnings that missed estimates as sales of its flagship Galaxy S4 handset fell short of analyst expectations.

Operating profit rose to about 9.5 trillion won ($8.3 billion) in the three months ended June from 6.5 trillion won a year earlier, Suwon, South Korea-based Samsung said in preliminary earnings released today. That compares with the 10 trillion-won average of 34 analyst estimatescompiled by Bloomberg.

The S4 was released in April with a bigger screen and motion-detecting software to help Samsung reclaim the top spot in the U.S. market from Apple Inc. (AAPL)’s iPhone and boost growth at its biggest source of earnings. The stock slumped 13 percent last month as at least 15 analysts cut earnings estimates amid concern the high-end Smartphone market is nearing saturation.

Jacob says, "Samsung had an opening and they did not take it. Their marketing department believed their own hype that 'bigger is always better'. Samsung should have attacked Apple’s Flank as the leader by attacking how un-cool Apple has become. After all, what young person wants to be using the same technology as their grandparents? I invite Samsung CEO, Kwon Oh Hyunto give me a call. I believe Samsung can reverse these lower than expected earnings by going back to basics. It’s not how big a phone is. It is how cool it is, and right now, Samsung is not exploiting Apple’s only weakness—that young kids are on the same phones as their 70-year old grandmother. The top three things Samsung needs to focus on is cool, cool, cool, not bigger is better."
