CelebrityBusinessAnalyst.com Comments on Potential New Trend in Ticket Sales

July 19, 2013

Celebrity Business Analyst releases its comments on what could become a trend in movie theater ticket sales. The discussion comes on the heels of a July 5 Los Angeles Times piece entitled “‘Pacific Rim’ gets SuperTicket treatment.”

Los Angeles, CA (PRWEB) July 19, 2013

Celebrity Business Analyst released its comments today on a new and innovative type of movie ticket being sold at theaters. The site offered its opinion after the Los Angeles Times reported on July 5 that Warner Bros.’s new release Pacific Rim will be the first film to offer the SuperTicket.

The SuperTicket is a new offering from Cineplex Entertainment in Canada, combining theater ticket and subsequent private collection movie purchase. The ticket costs $20 and includes not only an admission into the theater, but a pre-order of a digital copy featuring exclusive content as well. The digital version will be released before fans can buy the DVD in stores or view it on TV anywhere. Celebrity Business Analyst believes that this is a novel way of thinking about ticket sales: “Extras are always attractive to people who are looking to purchase something, and given that DVD and Blu-ray copies usually cost more than the increase in ticket price, the extra ten dollars for a pre-ordered digital copy seems like a good deal.”

The SuperTicket is not the first of its kind though. In June, Paramount released its Mega Ticket at selected Regal Cinemas for showings of World War Z, starring Hollywood actor Brad Pitt. “The fifty-dollar price of the Mega Ticket seems worth it as well,” says Celebrity Business Analyst’s senior writer. “Though it’s more than double the cost of the SuperTicket, it includes some pretty cool extras.” Those extras included a two-day advance screening of the film, an HD copy, custom RealD 3-D glasses, a limited-edition movie poster, and a small popcorn. Celebrity Business Analyst goes on to say, “The only caveat would be that there is always a chance that the viewer will end up not liking the movie and would be uninterested in the pre-ordered copy.”

Celebrity Business Analyst today released its opinion on a new type of movie ticket for theaters. The site believes that the SuperTicket and Mega Ticket are inventive and original ideas, and hopes to see these offerings expand into more theaters in North America soon.
