SideChef Brings a Personal Sous Chef and Private Culinary Instructor to the Masses; Step-by-Step Interactive Assistant Positioned to Make Anyone a Master Chef
Kickstarter Campaign Introduces App that will Change the Way You Approach Home Cooking
Santa Monica, Calif. (PRWEB) August 07, 2013
Many have wished they had their mother or the executive chef down the street by their side as they prepare a meal for dinner guests. Dream no more; SideChef, the brain child of former Blizzard Entertainment World of Warcraft community and marketing manager turned entrepreneur, Kevin Yu, combines cooking and gaming elements to provide a fun new way to prepare meals. Voice guided step-by-step instructions take chefs of every level through the ins and outs of recipes and meal planning in order to create the perfect feast delivered with precision and synched timing to you and your hungry guests.
"Two years ago I had no idea how to cook,” said founder and CEO Kevin Yu. “Like many people learning to cook I followed recipes from the web and realized that small mistakes related to timing or the measurement of ingredients led to unsavory meals and a frustrating experience. The desire to make the cooking process easier for people so they can focus on the enjoyment of cooking is what inspired SideChef.”
Though cooking has long been perceived as a challenging and sometimes stressful undertaking, SideChef will revolutionize the process into an easy and incredibly enjoyable task. With SideChef, anyone can turn a mere interest in food and cooking into a passion and transform themselves into a confident and skilled cook.
The Kickstarter campaign has a base goal of $15,000 for further development of the application in addition to enabling deployments across the globe. The campaign can be viewed on Kickstarter now: http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/2080376024/sidechef-step-by-step-cooking-application.
Currently in its alpha stage, SideChef seeks to offer a groundbreaking variety of features, including both audial and visual instructions, multi-meal planning, motion commands, grocery list functions and a recipe search database with a variety of unique filters to help users find that perfect recipe. To top it off is a “gamified” cooking aspect to both reward and encourage users to push their limits and try new things, all while experiencing limitless amounts of fun and pleasure. SideChef also aims to develop a close-knit community where both novice and seasoned cooks can create, share, and rate custom recipes, easily share cooking process photos, and earn achievements and rewards for dishes cooked. SideChef will launch with over a hundred recipes curated from the best food bloggers and chefs from across the globe.
“It’s always exciting to see technology innovations in the culinary world,” said John Szymanski, head corporate chef of Kroger in Atlanta, GA. “Having a virtual sous chef in your very own kitchen is a dream come true and I can see everyone from myself, an accomplished chef, to my best friends, who rarely cook anything that is not out of a box, utilizing this app to simplify time spent in the kitchen.”
The Kickstarter campaign launches today and offers exciting themed incentives including:
- A one-of-a-kind chef’s box packed with hand-selected items including kitchen tools, gadgets, and select ingredients that provide a foundation for flourishing SideChefs to dive into special recipes on the app.
- A culinary tour and mini-vacation to the backer’s choice of the East or West coast, packed with a variety of unique culinary experiences guided by members of the SideChef team.
- An all-inclusive, once in a lifetime five-day culinary adventure through the cultural and exotic city of Shanghai, guided by members of the SideChef team.
The team will introduce additional incentives once the primary goal is reached.
SideChef was founded by Kevin Yu and is designed to help chefs – from amateur to expert status – make the most of their time in the kitchen. Our goal is to simplify the process so people can focus on the enjoyment of cooking.
