Florida Hospital Tampa is honored nationally with the Spirit of Women Excellence in Strategic Integration of Women’s Services award, which highlights the success of the “Half of all Women” three-part pelvic health series. The award was presented to Florida Hospital Tampa at the 16th annual Spirit of Women National Executive meeting in Las Vegas, Nevada on July 18, 2013.
“The Spirit of Women national awards focus on hospitals across the United States that create and implement innovative initiatives to help improve the health of local communities during this important era of healthcare reform. Through their inspiring community outreach effort, Florida Hospital Tampa has shown true Excellence in Strategic Integration of Women’s Services,” said Tanya Abreu, National Program Director and President of Spirit Health Group. Florida Hospital Tampa is elevating healthcare for women in Tampa Bay as an official “Spirit of Women” designated hospital. Through this partnership, Florida Hospital Tampa hosts innovative community outreach in critical areas including heart disease, osteoporosis, breast health, cancer, menopause, sleep health, incontinence, diabetes, healthy pregnancy and more! The Spirit of Women Hospital Network is a national coalition that is committed to achieving the highest standards of women’s health.
“Our goal is to become a regional leader in women’s health while providing our community with the very best in medicine, health information and wellness education. Through our Spirit of Women partnership, we can connect with women and their families in our community and provide health education in both a fun and informative way,” said Lauren Key, Florida Hospital Tampa Vice President of Marketing. Research shows that half of all women do not talk to their doctor about health issues occurring below the waist. That’s why Florida Hospital Tampa decided to offer the free three-part health series called “Half of All Women” in March, April and May of 2013. The series included: Your Hips Don’t Lie, Protect Your Bottom Line and Get Your Groove Back 2.0. “Through this series, Florida Hospital Tampa was able to showcase three key service lines: orthopedics, digestive health and women’s services in an educational and entertaining way. The Spirit of Women coalition seeks to inspire and empower women to take control of all aspects of their lives. Florida Hospital Tampa has demonstrated its commitment to be a regional and community leader in gender-sensitive healthcare and education,” said Tanya Abreu. Florida Hospital Tampa was selected as the winner of this year’s Strategic Integration of Women’s Services national award by a panel of judges appointed by Spirit of Women. The judging panel includes industry consultants, hospital executives, wellness coaches and healthcare editors. The panel also selected exemplary hospitals in the fields of: Cultural Diversity Award, Life Stage Programming, Community Collaboration, Innovation Outreach and Community Impact.
