LearnShare, the provider of a comprehensive cloud-based learning and talent management solution, recently added a major system enhancement that gives users the ability to easily upload and manage video without third-party software or conversion steps.

LearnShare customers can quickly add videos to their learning libraries and manage video resources as they would other traditional training resources. In addition to monitoring and managing completions, system administrators can create associated assessments, edit titles and descriptions, and embed video links into other training resources or emails.

Video playback is optimized for all common mobile devices and tablets; when playback is interrupted, bookmarks are automatically inserted.

The new feature also works with LearnShare’s Social Learning Module, giving users the ability to share videos as part of ongoing knowledge sharing and collaboration. If a posted video becomes popular or is recognized as a key resource, system administrators can easily move the video to the learning library for wider use.

“In this age of You Tube, self-produced videos are becoming important learning resources,” said Rob Houck, LearnShare chief technology officer. “We wanted to give our users a way to easily incorporate videos into learning libraries and manage them as they would any online course. At the same time, we recognized that videos are also an easy and very effective means of sharing information informally. Extending this feature to incorporate both formal and informal uses ensures that our customers have the flexibility they need to leverage video to their best advantage.”
