(PRWEB) September 13, 2013

Globalsurance has recently revealed the medical insurance premium inflation rates for several insurers in Dubai as part of their second annual International Private Medical Insurance Review.

In the review, Globalsurance looked at the premium inflation rates for the last five years in Dubai and nine other regions – Brazil, China, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Kenya, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, and the UK.

Approximately 7,680 points of data were gathered from eight leading insurers operating in these regions – Aetna Global Benefits, Allianz WorldWide Care, AXA PPP, Bupa International, Globality Health, IHI Danmark/IHI Bupa, Interglobal, and William Russell.

For the last twelve months, the average inflation rate for all insurers in the study was 7.3% in Dubai and 8.3% for all ten regions in the study. The insurer with the highest premium increase in Dubai over the last twelve months was BUPA International at 10.5% and the insurer with the lowest premium increase was InterGlobal at 1.6%.

Pacific Prime analysts are surprised to see the low 7.3% inflation rate for the last twelve months in Dubai as the UAE has shown to be focusing on increasing healthcare standards to combat recent chronic conditions such as diabetes. The UAE is home to one of the highest rates of type 2 diabetes in the world with an estimated 20% of the population being affected.

For the last five years however, the average yearly inflation rate for all eight insurers was 9.3% in Dubai and 9.8% for all ten regions in the study. The insurer with the highest average premium inflation for these five years in Dubai was Globality Health at 12.4%, and the insurer with the lowest average premium inflation was AXA PPP with just 5.5%.

The 2013 Globalsurance International Private Medical Insurance Review contains a more detailed analysis of insurance premium inflation in Dubai and the other regions in the study, as well as a review of each of the eight insurers and the industry as a whole.
