New Way to Fund Professor Savings Start Up: Hand Jobs

Entrepreneur Rayfil Wong funds Professor Savings, a Youtube channel teaching finance basics, with hand modeling jobs.

When entrepreneur Rayfil Wong realized he had a great idea on how to teach young people about finance and buy stock shares online through a Youtube channel called Professor Savings, he had one major problem – funding. Wong found an odd way to fund his company – hand modeling. Wong said, “I constantly get comments that I have nice hands, just like George Costanza from Seinfield.”  So he signed up with a local modeling agency in San Francisco and became a hand model.  Wong received around $750 for a day's shoot which included hovering his index finger over a tablet during the course of the day. His clients include major tech companies such as Hewlett Packard and Apple. 

With his savings of $6,000 from hand modeling, he started Professor Savings Youtube channel that aims to teach finance, budgeting, and how to buy stock shares online aimed at college students to young adults.  Professor Savings founder Rayfil Wong emphasized that his format is appealing to younger people, noting the appeal of short one minute videos paired with a more extended finance article in the Youtube description.

Professor Savings channel with over two hundred fifty high definition video, hosted by an attractive British host named Blair. Wong said, “Professor Savings is set up so that users need to only dedicate five minutes of their time each day to increase their financial literacy learning topics such as how buy stock shares online Wong said, "A video a day keeps bankruptcy away.”  

According to an article by CNET, four billion videos are viewed on YouTube each day and by 2015 CNN Money reports that the internet will be two thirds made up of video.  Wong has put together a dedicated team that responds to YouTube comments throughout the day providing an engaging experience.

Wong’s inspiration for helping young people about financial literary stems from his personal story. Wong’s father said one day while he was in elementary school. “We don't have money. I need to leave USA and go back to China for work." Wong hugged him and cried and because of this incident vowed to learn about savings and investing well.

Professor Savings is website that offers viewers discounts with affiliate partners such as StateFarm and H&R Block. Rayfil Wong has an economics degree from University of California – Berkeley and has been working in the education industry, working for University of California Berkeley and DeVry University.
