October 4, 2013

SNHU offers a new bachelor’s degree for those with a passion for health and wellness.

Manchester, NH (PRWEB) October 04, 2013

Building on its popular degree options in the growing healthcare field, Southern New Hampshire University (SNHU) announces a new online bachelor’s degree program, the Bachelor of Science in Health Promotion. Designed for students who want to make a difference in people’s health and well-being, the program combines aspects of psychology, sociology, communications and healthcare management with a love of fitness, nutrition and wellness.

As one of the few online Health Promotion degrees available, the new program addresses growth in demand of almost 40% for Health Educators and 28% for Community Health Workers* amid Americans’ increasingly stress-filled lifestyles and rising healthcare costs. It takes a pragmatic approach, focusing on the importance of preventative care, behavior modification, one-on-one counseling and community healthcare advocacy.

“We’re experiencing a time of profound social and economic shifts that will affect the way we live for many years to come,” said Kathleen Polley-Payne, associate dean of nursing. “We’re very excited about the potential for this program and the contribution future graduates will make to society.”

Students in the program will learn how to apply education, behavior modification and developing strong one-on-one relationships to teach the importance of preventative care, focusing on topics including weight loss, smoking cessation, stress reduction and human sexuality, among others.

Students who enroll in SNHU’s online BS in Health Promotion program will also enjoy many other distinct advantages, including:

  •     One of the few online baccalaureate-level Health Promotion degrees available
  •     One of the most affordable Health Promotion degrees available
  •     Offered by a private, not-for-profit, fully accredited university
  •     Classes taught and developed by real-world experts
  •     Transfer-friendly enrollment (students with credit from other colleges will benefit from SNHU’s full-service approach, including specialized assistance in enrollment, academic advising and career services from professionals who truly care about student success.)

Whether as health educators or community health workers, graduates of the program will find career opportunities in non-profit organizations or in hospitals, managed care facilities or private business. Southern New Hampshire University is proud to offer this unique and cutting-edge new program, which comes right on the cusp of exciting and historic cultural, social and economic changes that will affect the way we live today and well into the future.
