Google’s Schmidt Delivers Guide To Help iPhone Users Switch To Android

Google Chairman Eric Schmidt took to Google+ on Monday to teach iPhone and iOS users how to make the switch to an Android phone, saying the Google operating system is much better and has hardware packages that far outpace Apple’s products.

“Like the people who moved from PCs to Macs and never switched back, you will switch from iPhone to Android and never switch back as everything will be in the cloud, backed up, and there are so many choices for you,” wrote Schmidt in his Google+ posting  entitled 'Eric’s Guide: Converting to Android from iPhone.'

“80% of the world, in the latest surveys, agrees on Android,” Schmidt wrote.

The remainder of the 870-word post reads like a straightforward how-to guide, providing directions on everything from how to sign into an Android phone with a Google account to importing contacts, pictures and music.

Schmidt concludes with a few additional recommendations.

"Be sure to use Chrome, not Safari; it's safer and better in so many ways. And it's free,” he said.

Also, be sure to use "two-factor authentication for your Gmail and Google accounts. Makes it very hard for someone to break into your Gmail. Also free.”

The remarks by Schmidt, the 58-year-old former Google CEO, are only the latest in a public back-and-forth between Google and Apple.

It remains to be seen whether Apple CEO Tim Cook will respond.
