LINE Adds 2M New Users Within 24 Hours After WhatsApp Experiences Network Outage

LOS ANGELES, Feb. 24, 2014 /PRNewswire/ — LINE Corporation, owner and operator of the free call and messaging app LINE, benefited from Facebook’s surprising move to acquire WhatsApp last week with a new daily record logging 2 million new users in 24 hours after WhatsApp suffered a significant network outage over the weekend. During the WhatsApp outage, LINE new daily register users spiked at a rate of five times more than usual in North America, South America and Europe.
