Multi-Health Systems Reveal New Global Trends on Emotional Intelligence
Individuals and organizations can now compare performance on a global level using the Emotional Quotient Inventory (EQ-i 2.0®).

Multi-Health Systems Inc. (MHS Inc.) has announced the release of the EQ-i 2.0® Global Norms. The last ten years have brought an increase of interest in emotional intelligence around the world. Organizations and consultants alike are using the EQ-i 2.0® assessment to develop their leaders and teams. Providing the option to score results from the instrument against a globally representative sample will allow individuals and organizations to compare performance on a global level.

Incorporated as a set of emotional and social skills, emotional intelligence influences the way individuals perceive and express themselves, develop and maintain social relationships, cope with challenges, and use emotional information in an effective and meaningful way. The EQ-i 2.0 measures the interaction between a person and the environment he/she operates in. Assessing and evaluating an individual’s emotional intelligence can help establish the need for targeted development programs and measures.
The Global Norms are comprised of data collected from 10,000 individuals, evenly proportioned from Africa, the Americas, Asia, Europe, and Oceania. Analyses revealed that there are small regional differences, but while this is significant in a statistical sense, when talking about behavior, it is a difference that is not readily observable. What was really powerful to see from our analyses was the difference in EI across genders. We have long seen gender differences in North America in how men and women demonstrate EI (for example, women have traditionally and continue to be higher in the empathy skill of EI) and these exact same trends were seen in every continent, across 154 countries.
The Global Norms provide a platform for a wide variety of applications within organizations and across international boundaries.
