Sentient Science Adds Product Life Prediction Tool to Altair Partner Alliance
DigitalClone will help APA users predict life and performance of bearings, gears, and drivetrains using new prognostics technology
TROY, Mich., March 5, 2014 /PRNewswire/ — The Altair Partner Alliance (APA) today announced the expansion of its offering with the addition of material failure prediction software DigitalClone, by Sentient Science. The first of its kind to be offered within the program, DigitalClone(TM) will allow HyperWorks users to better control product lifecycles by predicting failure probability throughout the design process.
The web-based software, DigitalClone Component(TM), determines the future life and performance of rotating components including bearings, gears, and splines. Design and testing teams can interrogate DigitalClone material microstructure models to test the variance of a product’s reliability under trade studies such as different duty cycles, materials, lubricants, and surface treatments. This capability enables much more testing of product performance and reliability within program budget and time.

DigitalClone Component will be released in two Phases with the APA. Today, the Phase I of the DigitalClone Component simulator will allow users to manipulate public fixed geometry DigitalClone models selecting from an existing library including bearings, gears and drivetrain components. In addition, users may also be able to purchase consulting services from Sentient Science and Altair to develop their custom DigitalClone models.
