Laplink Releases Updated Version of its Imaging Software

March 28, 2014

The new release of Laplink DiskImage simplifies data backup and recovery and can be used to ease the transition from an old PC to a new one – perfect for Windows XP End of Support.

Bellevue, Wash. (PRWEB) March 28, 2014

Laplink® Software, Inc. announced today the newest release of Laplink DiskImage, its advanced backup and recovery software. The new features added to DiskImage 8 make the software even more user-friendly, allow for increased efficiency, and can help users transition between PCs – the prefect complementary software for users transitioning from Windows XP before end of support on April 8.

Data loss can happen to anyone. Whether it’s an accidental coffee spill, a power surge, or a particularly nasty bit of malware, data loss often occurs without warning.

“Most PC users don’t think about data backup until it’s too late,” stated Thomas Koll, Laplink’s CEO. “They don’t believe data loss will happen to them, and they feel that a backup process is too complicated and time consuming. Laplink DiskImage makes data backup incredibly quick and simple; it’s perfect for the novice PC user or business person with a cramped schedule.”

Getting started with Laplink DiskImage is easy. The enhanced 1-Click Imaging feature allows the user to start imaging their entire computer with just a single click. Laplink DiskImage now features ‘Plug-and-Play’ functionality, allowing users to select files and folders to automatically backup and synchronize. It also performs automatic monitoring that warns the user if an image or backup hasn’t been performed for a long period of time. Users can choose an all-inclusive image for complete hard drive recovery, or an incremental image to backup only data that has changed since the last backup. Laplink DiskImage can be used to restore all data, or a user can now choose to restore only individual files.

The newest edition of Laplink DiskImage makes it easy to be efficient while protecting data. Standard ISO files can now be mounted as data image files and virtual hard disks. Images of virtual hard disks from Microsoft can be converted into DiskImage image files and vice versa, and DiskImage now supports EFI/UEFI systems in addition to the classic BIOS. The enhanced scripting interface allows for full control and configuration of DiskImage for integration with a user’s own applications. Storage is more optimized in Laplink DiskImage 8, allowing the user to specify a maximum number of backups to retain. Once the maximum number is reached, older backups are automatically overwritten.

DiskImage also features machine independent restoration, making it possible to restore a system onto different hardware, which is typically the case in event of a disaster.

And with end of support for Windows XP quickly approaching, Laplink DiskImage is the perfect complement to PCmover Image & Drive Assistant allowing XP users to safely migrate to a new PC while keeping a complete copy of their old XP computer

PCmover Image & Drive Assistant provides users with the unique ability to restore any image or hard drive to a new PC without overwriting the operating system. Other image restoration hardware replaces a user’s new Windows system with a copy of the old Windows system. With PCmover Image & Drive Assistant, users can bring all their files, settings, and applications from the old image (or hard drive) to the new PC quickly and hassle free, without overwriting anything on the new PC.

“The latest version of Laplink DiskImage caters to any customer looking for a positive backup experience,” continued Koll. “Whether a user wants a simple, automated solution or wants to be able to specifically select which files to backup and restore, DiskImage can handle it. It’s the perfect complement to PCmover Image & Drive Assistant, giving XP users a great method to move to a brand new PC while keeping a complete copy of the old PC for archiving.”

The newest version of Laplink DiskImage is available on http://www.laplink.com and through a variety of software retailers in the United States for under $40 and includes PCmover Image & Drive Assistant at no additional charge.
