Science Matters Media Announces Acquisition of redOrbit.com
Nashville based Science Matters Media, LLC brings new direction to redOrbit
Nashville, Tenn. – Science Matters Media, LLC has announced that it recently acquired redOrbit.com from company founder Eric Ralls for an undisclosed sum. The acquisition of the website, its domains and all original intellectual property and content was completed in March, 2014.
Since its founding in November 2002, redOrbit.com has become a premier destination for space, science, health and technology related news and video content. Under the new ownership, the website will continue to ignite interest in science, space, and technology through imaginative content, while increasing its presence as a strong consumer brand.
“The staff of redOrbit is thrilled to work under the new guidance that Science Matters Media brings to the table,” said John Valenzano, Managing Editor of redOrbit.com. “Under this new leadership, we’re going to continue to concentrate on what we do best.”
In addition to reporting the top trending news stories of the day, redOrbit.com will expand its daily video offerings, increase original content and blog posts and will roll out a new website later this summer. A new app for Android and iOS devices will also arrive later this year.
“This is an exciting time for us,” Valenzano added. “We are still the redOrbit that our readers have come to know and respect, but with a new vision and fresh leadership.”
Science Matters Media, LLC is based in Nashville, and redOrbit has a staff of approximately 30 individuals working all over the country and around the world. RedOrbit currently has over 3.2 million unique visitors each month, generating over 18.8 million page views.
Over the past few years, space, science, health and technology have once again consumed the imaginations of people across the globe. RedOrbit is perfectly positioned to capture this momentum and achieve drastic business growth. Additionally, redOrbit is leveraging social and mobile infrastructure to increase global accessibility and reach.
