Jupiter Ed, a leader in cloud based gradebook, learning management system, data analytics, and student information system solutions for the education market, announced today that August 2014 marks the company's 10th anniversary of its founding.

Founder David Hundsness started as a middle/high school teacher in 1992 in Silicon Valley. He was an early adopter of electronic gradebooks, but over the years he noticed that gradebook software was still tedious. Therefore, in the summer of 2004, he programmed his own web-based gradebook. “At first I was just developing the gradebook for myself,” says Hundsness, “but within a few days I realized all teachers could use something like this.”

He launched the gradebook as SnapGrades, and teachers immediately recognized the value of having grades online for students, citing its ease of use and intuitive design. By 2009, SnapGrades had become the #1 web-based gradebook. Between 2009-2013, the company rebranded as Jupiter Ed, and expanded their Gradebook to add the SIS, LMS, and Data Analytics, to what is now their award winning all-in-one solution, Jupiter iO.

Throughout the past ten years, Jupiter Ed has proven to be the leader in education technology innovation, far outpacing the competition. Unlike other providers, Jupiter Ed continues to develop all applications in-house, rather than acquiring third-party applications. Because of this, Jupiter iO is the only fully integrated all-in-one solution on the market.

Jupiter Ed has grown every year, and has been profitable since 2006. They are completely self-funded, with no debt or investors. The company has recruited the brightest talent, with employees now in 6 states. They currently serve schools in 49 states, totaling 3.4 million students.

"It is surprising, even to myself, how much has changed in ten years, and how much our company has grown," said Hundsness. "I am grateful to our talented staff, and to all our loyal customers, who have given us great feedback and shared their enthusiastic love for Jupiter Ed."
