Eagleware Acquires Elanix, Expands System-Level Offering; Combination Speeds Up Communications System Design With Integrated Algorithm to Artwork Flow

Eagleware Corporation, a leading supplier of high-frequency design software for the RF and microwave industry announced today it has signed a definitive agreement to purchase Elanix, Inc. of Westlake Village, California, an electronic-system level (ESL) design tool provider, for an undisclosed sum. The agreement has been approved by Elanix shareholders and the Eagleware board of directors. The transaction is expected to close within the next week.
The acquisition expands customers' design options for improving power, speed and accuracy by adding signal processing design software that models the behavior and performance of communication and DSP systems to Eagleware's existing portfolio of high-frequency simulation, analysis and synthesis software.
"Combining Elanix's proven signal processing technology with the power of our RF and microwave design software allows our customers to approach communication product design holistically," remarked Eagleware CEO, Todd Cutler. "In an integrated environment, engineers will be able to design better communications systems, from microphone to speaker, from algorithm to artwork, faster than ever before. For the first time, a single environment will provide the path from system level to hardware for both RF and DSP technologies."
Andre Kobel, President of Elanix, added, "Our combined software offering will reduce final product cost by enabling designers to determine the optimal design blocks and parameters early in the design cycle, when problems are easier to fix."
The acquisition is a cash transaction, and is being financed internally by Eagleware. Eagleware was represented by Newforth Partners, an M&A advisory and investment banking firm located in San Francisco, California.
Key Products
Existing ESL products are geared to digital hardware and software implementations. The combined Eagleware/Elanix offering will extend ESL design to include RF and microwave implementations. Communication system designs can now be partitioned into DSP and RF/microwave elements within a single ESL simulation and analysis environment, and the RF/microwave elements can be carried all the way to final artwork.
Elanix
SystemView by Elanix(R) is a software product, for Electronic System Level (ESL) design, simulation, and analysis of communication systems and DSP.
Eagleware
SPECTRASYS(TM), a full spectral-domain system simulator, analyzes signal sneak paths, full channel bandwidth and system interactions not usually seen before actual test measurements. It is capable of calculating and displaying full spectral data at every node, like a spectrum analyzer. GENESYS(TM) is a fully integrated schematic capture, simulation, and layout suite for RF and microwave designs with support for a harmonic balance simulator, electromagnetic simulator and synthesis modules for active and passive components.
