Comtech Mobile Datacom Corporation (CMDC), a wholly owned subsidiary of Comtech Telecommunications Corp. (NASDAQ: CMTL), announced today that it received FIPS 140-2 Validation Certification from the National Institute for Standards and Technology (NIST) for the MTM-203 Miniature Satellite Transceiver Module. The MTM-203 is CMDC's most recent addition to its family of field-proven mobile satellite transceivers and satellite transceiver modules.
Daniel Wood, President of Comtech Mobile Datacom Corporation, said, "We are extremely pleased to have our first FIPS Certification for the MTM-203, the cornerstone technology for CMDC's next-generation mobile satellite communications products and services. We expect to continue leveraging this technology and expertise in secure mobile communications in all of our future product offerings."
The MTM-203 is a 2" X 4" X 0.6" L-Band satellite transceiver module designed for use in conjunction with CMDC's world wide satellite network. The MTM-203 provides secure, near real-time, mobile data communications capabilities required to meet the needs of the most demanding commercial and military users. The module's miniature form factor and global communications capabilities make it ideal for integration into major communications systems, integration into hand-held communication products or for use as a stand-alone communication module. CMDC is base-lining all future satellite transceiver products on the MTM-203 technology.
The FIPS 140-2 validation for cryptographic modules is obtained through the National Institute of Standards and Technology, as the United States FIPS 140-2 Cryptographic Module Validation Authority, as well as the Communications Security Establishment, Canada's FIPS 140-2 Cryptographic Module Validation Authority.
