Light Reading's "Top IPO or M&A Candidate" award based on strong management team, product portfolio and financial stability
BigBand Networks, Inc., a leading provider of network platforms for video, voice and data services, today announced that Light Reading selected the company as the "Top IPO or M&A Candidate" among the telecom equipment and services industry's leading private companies. Criteria for the award are strength of management team, product portfolio and financial stability. It was presented to BigBand Networks on December 15 at Light Reading's "Leading Lights" Awards Dinner.
"There are massive shifts happening in the telecommunications market, which makes this the perfect time to recognize the leaders that will carry the industry forward in the recovery," said R. Scott Raynovich, Light Reading's U.S. editor. "BigBand Networks was one of only 10 companies to be recognized as part of the telecom industry's most comprehensive and exhaustive awards program."
The recognition of BigBand Networks as one of the telecom industry's "Leading Lights" comes during the company's continuing global expansion. During 2004, BigBand Networks acquired ADC Telecom's IP Cable business unit, raised $25 million in venture capital to bring its total amount raised to date to more than $100 million, and expanded deployments with top global network operators to now provide infrastructure for more than 20 million digital television and broadband data subscribers.
"BigBand Networks' commitment to customer service, technological excellence and sound fiscal operations has distinguished us in an industry that boasts numerous innovative companies and talented individuals," said Amir Bassan-Eskenazi, president and CEO of BigBand Networks. "We will build on our reputation as one of telecom's 'Leading Lights' and continue raising the bar in the market for delivery of video, voice and data."
The "Leading Lights" awards recognized top public and private companies and their executives for their outstanding achievements in the telecommunications industry. There were more than 325 nominations for the 2004 Leading Light awards. The finalists were selected by a panel of Light Reading editors, Heavy Reading analysts, and invited experts from leading investment banks and venture capital firms. The awards categories and judging criteria were developed based on Light Reading's five years of experience analyzing telecommunications and extensive feedback from both leading financial analysts and service providers.
