AT&T's Hosting Services Will Support New Disaster Recovery System for Leading Southeast Transport Company AAA Cooper

Posted on: Monday, 29 October 2007, 12:00 CDT

AT&T Inc. (NYSE:T) today announced a three-year contract with AAA Cooper Transportation (ACT) to host the leading transport company's network services. AT&T already provides ACT with Private Network Transport (PNT) services for 88 locations across the Southeast and Midwest, and with this AT&T hosting contract, ACT will move forward with its development of a full-scale Disaster Recovery (DR) program to keep business operations online in the event of a natural or man-made disaster.

ACT's business is focused in the Southeast, from Texas to North Carolina to Puerto Rico. Weather is an especially relevant threat to ACT trucking operations, which prove vital to the company's growing customer base. ACT runs a truck-to-ship-to-truck service from Puerto Rico, which requires the highest levels of network coordination and preparation for inclement weather conditions, which can delay transport service.

"Our DR plan with AT&T allows AAA Cooper to keep servicing our customers even if the home office goes completely down," said Jeff Liles, director, Information Services, AAA Cooper. "In our business, customers require on-time deliveries to keep operations running. The network redundancy and reliable connectivity that AT&T provides ensure that we can do our job, which is coordinating ACT trucks to deliver customer products on time, every time."

ACT also maintains successful relationships that enable the company to extend service to international destinations in Canada, Mexico, the Caribbean, Latin America, Europe, Asia, Africa and Australia. Connectivity and communication prove essential to shipping products across borders and coordinating with other companies to move customer inventory. With AT&T's hosting services, ACT will proactively monitor and manage its solution to support business-continuity requirements and recovery capabilities so that ACT can restore networking and applications quickly should disaster strike.
